Continuing Education (CE Credit)
A Better Way is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) to sponsor Continuing Education for LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, LEP (62361) and the California Psychological Association (CPA) to sponsor Continuing Education for PhD, PsyD (ABE010). The California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) recognizes CAMFT and CPA Continuing Education credit for license renewal. A Better Way maintains responsibility for our programs/courses and their content. Participants are required to attend the entire course, have attendance verified by program staff, and submit a course evaluation to receive CE credit. Continuing Education is provided for select courses only. Inquire with the Training Program for additional information.
ADA Accommodation Policy
To request an accommodation for an A Better Way course, please contact ABW Training Programs via email trainings@abetterwayinc.net three weeks prior to the course date. A Better Way will make reasonable efforts to accommodate qualified individuals with disabilities and/or medical conditions during the course, in accordance/compliance with the State Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable statutes. A Better Way Training Programs meets all applicable local, state, and federal standards, including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), 42 U.S.C. §§ 12101-12213 (2008).
Confidentiality Policy
By registering for an A Better Way course, you are consenting to protect the confidentiality of course participants and clients. As a course participant, you are required to abide by Private Health Information (PHI) and HIPAA guidelines/laws as they pertain to Mental Health Programs in the state of California. Further, no information about participants’ identities shall be disclosed to any outside entities by course participants. We thank you for partnering with us to honor the ethical and legal practice of ensuring the safety of participants’ right to privacy.
Training Cancellation Policy
There is currently no charge for Title IV-E Eligible participants who cancel their training registration. We request participants who can no longer attend a course cancel their registration within their training account with 48 hours advance notice of the course date. A Better Way will notify course instructor(s) and registrants via email and/or phone no later than one week in advance for courses canceled by A Better Way. If an emergency requires course cancelation with less than a week’s notice, registrants will be notified immediately via email and informed of plans for course rescheduling.
Discrimination Policy
A Better Way Training Programs and their Contracted Instructors do not discriminate against any individual or group with respect to any service, program or activity based on gender, race, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, age, or other prohibited basis. Attendees are not required to adhere to any religion or creed to participate in Training Program events. No single modality of treatment is promoted or advocated for that is discriminatory or likely to harm clients based upon current accepted standards of practice.
Training Grievance Policy
A participant has the right to seek support for a dispute or disagreement through A Better Way’s policies for filing complaints/grievances for visitors and employees. Participants may use available informal means to have decisions reconsidered before filing a formal complaint/grievance. No retaliation of any kind shall be taken against a participant for filing a complaint/grievance. To provide the highest quality services to participants in our trainings, you are encouraged to report immediately any concerns regarding your training to the Director of Training who will provide a complaint form. All participant complaints/grievances should be in writing to: Director of Training, A Better Way Training Program 3200 Adeline Street Berkeley, Ca 94703; Or by email to trainings@abetterwayinc.net. Once a complaint or grievance has been submitted, a response can be expected no later than ten (10) business days. Upon receipt, the Director of Training will conduct a formal review of the complaint/grievance and will attempt a timely resolution. If no resolution is forthcoming, or the problem is not satisfactorily resolved, the participant may direct any complaint/grievance to the A Better Way Chief People Officer Head of Human Resources.
